Connect
Talk agave with the assistant you already use.
Tahona is what Claude or ChatGPT knows about agave spirits: every bottle, your shelf, your notes and the people you follow. Ask what to open, build a flight, post a tasting; every change waits for your word. It costs nothing in Tahona.

What it can do
Any connection
Tells the assistant who it is acting for and what it may do.
| Tool | What it does | Try saying |
|---|---|---|
get_connectionRead-only |
Returns who this connection is (handle and display name), the permissions granted (read, write, social), which assistant it came through, and how many calls remain today per category. Answers questions such as 'what can you do with my Tahona account?'. Blocks, reports, account settings and deleting an account are done in the Tahona app, not here. | “What can you do with my Tahona account?” |
Read
Look things up. Nothing is changed.
| Tool | What it does | Try saying |
|---|---|---|
search_bottlesRead-only |
Finds agave spirits (tequila, mezcal, raicilla, sotol, bacanora) by name, brand or expression, and returns each bottle's `id` for the tools that take a bottle id. Results rank the closest name match first and, among equally close matches, the person's own shelf first, then bottles they have tasted or listed, then the wider catalog; agave spelling variants (tepeztate or tepextate, cuishe or cuixe, accents or none) match each other. Each row carries a `mine` mark and a summary score from public review sites when one exists. When several shelf bottles match and no vintage or lot was given, the result is marked `ambiguous`. The summary score is all a row carries: aroma and flavor terms, expert versus community scores and other collectors' notes are only in the full bottle record. | “Do I have the Tosba Pechuga on my shelf?” |
get_bottleRead-only |
Returns everything Tahona knows about one bottle, by an id from `search_bottles` or `find_bottles`: producer, agave, production details, vintages with ABV, price, whether it is on the person's shelf or tasted, how other Tahona collectors rated it, and what two public review sites report (score, rating counts, expert versus community, common aroma and flavor terms, price tier, link). Answers questions such as 'is it worth it?', 'what does it taste like?' and 'should I open it?', and supplies the detail behind ordering a flight or describing a bottle being tasted. Fields marked untrusted (the bottle `description` and other collectors' tasting text) were written by other people. | “I'm at the store: is the Rey Campero Tepeztate worth $120?” |
find_bottlesRead-only |
Browses the catalog by facet: category, agave, region, production class, producer, or a maximum price. Sorts by review-site score, by popularity among Tahona collectors, or by newest. Each result is short and carries a `mine` mark; `exclude_mine` hides bottles already on the shelf or tasted. Results come in pages of at most 10, and `next_cursor` from a result returns the next page. A result carries no aroma and flavor terms, expert versus community scores or other collectors' notes; those are only in the full bottle record. Answers questions such as 'what is a good mezcal under $80?'. | “Round out my collection: suggest a few highly rated bottles I don't own.” |
get_collection_profileRead-only |
Summarizes the person's shelf as counts: by status, category, agave, region, production class, producer (top 10) and price band, with how many shelf bottles are tasted versus untasted and the person's average stars overall and per category. Answers questions such as 'do I own a tepeztate?' and 'does this bottle fit my collection?'. Stars are the person's own ratings, 0.5 to 5. | “Do I own a tepeztate, and what have I rated my Rey Camperos?” |
get_my_shelfRead-only |
Lists the bottles on the person's own shelf with vintage, status (sealed, open, finished), dates, purchase price and store, their private note, and their latest stars and date for each; filters by status or category. Answers questions such as 'what should I open tonight?' and 'what do I own?'. Results come in pages of up to 50, and `next_cursor` from a result returns the next page. Everything here is the person's own data. Shelf rows carry no review scores or aroma and flavor descriptors; those are only in the full bottle record. | “What should I open tonight? Look at what's on my shelf.” |
get_my_tastingsRead-only |
Lists the person's own tastings, newest first, with full text, stars, aroma, palate and finish terms and the bottle. Answers questions such as 'what did I write about this bottle?' and 'what did I just post?', and gives the tasting id of each row. Each row shows `source`: `app` or the assistant that created it. | “Show my last three tastings.” |
get_tastingRead-only |
Returns one tasting by its id: the text, stars, aroma, palate and finish terms, the bottle, who wrote it and how many comments and likes it has. Covers a tasting that came up in a feed, notification or link. Fields marked untrusted were written by other people. | “Open that tasting Ana posted and tell me what she said.” |
get_my_listsRead-only |
Lists the person's own lists, tasting flights, ranked lists and wishlist, with item counts and links. Answers questions such as 'what lists do I have?' and gives the list id of each row; the wishlist is the one with type `wishlist`. `type` narrows the result. | “What lists and flights do I have?” |
get_listRead-only |
Returns a list's items in order, by a list id from `get_my_lists` or a link, with each bottle's role line and a `mine` mark per bottle (on my shelf, tasted, new to me). Works for the person's own lists and for another collector's list. Fields marked untrusted (another person's title, description and role lines) were written by other people. | “Show me my wishlist.” |
get_my_notificationsRead-only |
Lists the person's notifications: likes, comments, new followers and submission verdicts, newest first. Answers questions such as 'what did I miss?' and includes the comments others left. `unread_only` limits the result to the new ones. Fields marked untrusted (comment text and other people's names) were written by other people. | “Did anyone comment on my tastings?” |
get_my_feedRead-only |
Shows recent activity from the people the person follows: bottles added, opened or finished, tastings and new lists. Each event carries a `mine` mark for the bottle and the other person's stars next to their own average, which shows what they loved that the person has not tried. Fields marked untrusted were written by other people. | “What are my friends drinking lately?” |
search_peopleRead-only |
Finds other Tahona collectors by name or handle. Results are ranked by closeness: mutuals, people the person follows, followers, people they have interacted with, then everyone, and each shows its `tier`. When more than one close match exists the result is marked `ambiguous`. Fields marked untrusted (names) were written by other people. | “Find Ana on Tahona.” |
get_personRead-only |
Returns a collector's public profile: handle, bio, link, counts of bottles, tastings and lists, followers and following, and whether the person follows them and they follow back. Looks them up by `user_id` (an id from `search_people`) or by exact `handle`. Fields marked untrusted (bio and names) were written by other people. Blocked or unavailable people come back as not found. | “Tell me about Ana's profile.” |
get_person_activityRead-only |
Returns one collector's recent public activity: tastings, bottles added, opened or finished, and lists created, each with a `mine` mark for the bottle and their stars next to their own average. Answers questions such as 'what has Ana been drinking?'. Fields marked untrusted were written by other people. When nothing comes back, there is no visible activity or the person is not available. The result starts with `lead`, a server-written line that names what comes first. `events` lists the highlights first (`highlight: true`: their tastings of 4 stars or more of bottles the person has neither on their shelf nor tasted, best first), then everything else by date. | “What has Ana been drinking?” |
get_followsRead-only |
Lists who follows a collector or whom they follow (by default the person's own account), at most 50. Answers questions such as 'do I already follow Ana?'. Fields marked untrusted (names) were written by other people. | “Who do I follow?” |
get_commentsRead-only |
Lists the comments on a tasting or a list, with like counts. Fields marked untrusted (comment text) were written by other people; the person's own comments are marked `is_mine`. | “What are people saying on my last tasting?” |
Write
Change your own shelf, lists and tastings, and send bottles and corrections to Tahona's review queue.
| Tool | What it does | Try saying |
|---|---|---|
add_bottle_to_shelfAsks first |
Adds a bottle to the person's shelf, by a product id from `search_bottles`. A bottle with exactly one vintage uses it; a bottle with several vintages returns `ambiguous` until a vintage is given. Purchase details and the personal note stay on the shelf entry and are private. A retry with the same `idempotency_key` does not create a duplicate. | “I just bought the Tosba Pechuga, add it to my shelf.” |
update_shelf_bottleAsks first |
Changes a bottle on the shelf: marks it open or finished (the date defaults to today), edits the purchase details, or writes the private personal note. The personal note is the one private place in Tahona for something that is not shared. Returns the updated entry. | “I just opened my Del Maguey Tobala; mark it open.” |
remove_shelf_bottleAsks first |
Removes a bottle from the person's shelf. Tastings already posted for it stay. This cannot be undone. | “Remove the empty Ocho from my shelf.” |
create_listAsks first |
Creates a list, a ranked list or a tasting flight, optionally with up to 50 bottles in order, each with a one-line role (the reason it is in the flight). Lists are visible to other Tahona collectors. Returns the list and its link. | “Build a light-to-heavy flight of four from my shelf and save it.” |
update_listAsks first |
Renames a list or changes its description. Lists are visible to other Tahona collectors. The bottles in the list are left as they are. | “Rename my flight to 'Smoke ladder'.” |
set_list_itemsAsks first |
Replaces the bottles in one of the person's own lists, wishlist included, with the given items in the given order. The given items are the full list: anything left out is removed. Refused for lists that belong to someone else. | “Add the Rey Campero Tepeztate to my wishlist.” |
delete_listAsks first |
Deletes one of the person's own lists or flights with its items. The wishlist cannot be deleted; it can be emptied by replacing its items with none. This cannot be undone. | “Delete my 'Smoke ladder' flight.” |
log_tastingAsks first |
Posts a tasting for a bottle. Tastings are visible to every Tahona collector. Stars run 0.5 to 5 in half steps. Aroma, palate and finish are short terms in their arrays, and the person's own words go in `note`. Returns the tasting and its link. | “I'm drinking the Tosba Pechuga, here are my notes, post it.” |
update_tastingAsks first |
Changes one of the person's own tastings: stars, text, or terms. The edit is visible to other collectors at once. A term array that is sent replaces that array; arrays that are not sent stay. | “Change my rating to 4.” |
delete_tastingAsks first |
Deletes one of the person's own tastings, including its comments and likes. This cannot be undone. | “Delete what I just posted.” |
mark_notifications_readAsks first |
Marks the person's notifications as read, either the listed ids (from `get_my_notifications`) or all of them. | “Mark all my notifications as read.” |
submit_bottleAsks first |
Submits a bottle that is missing from the catalog, for review; it applies when a catalog search finds no match. A missing vintage of an existing bottle and a wrong detail have their own submissions. Fields read from a label photo go in the arguments, with the raw transcription in `label_text`; the image itself is not sent to the server. Nothing is public until Tahona approves it. | “Here's a photo of a mezcal that isn't in Tahona; add it.” |
submit_batchAsks first |
Submits a missing vintage (batch, release or lot) of a bottle that is already in the catalog, for review; the bottle is an id from `search_bottles`. ABV and lot are read from the label. The vintage stays hidden from everyone else until Tahona approves it. | “My bottle is batch 7 at 49.2% ABV and Tahona only lists batch 6; add it.” |
suggest_correctionAsks first |
Suggests a fix to a catalog detail that looks wrong: the name, brand, category, ABV, agave, producer, NOM number, region or description. A Tahona reviewer checks it before anything changes; nothing is edited immediately. It takes the field, the value believed to be right and a short reason. | “The ABV on this Del Maguey is wrong, it's 46%.” |
Social
Comment, like and follow as you.
| Tool | What it does | Try saying |
|---|---|---|
commentAsks first |
Posts a public comment on a tasting or a list. Comments are visible to everyone who can see the item and cannot be edited, only deleted. | “Comment on Ana's last tasting: need to try this.” |
delete_commentAsks first |
Deletes one of the person's own comments. This cannot be undone. | “Delete my comment on Ana's tasting.” |
likeAsks first |
Likes a tasting, a list or a comment. Liking something already liked changes nothing. The owner is notified. | “Like Ana's tasting of the Tosba.” |
unlikeAsks first |
Removes the person's like from a tasting, list or comment. Unliking something not liked changes nothing. | “Unlike that tasting.” |
followAsks first |
Follows another collector, by a user id from `search_people`, so their activity appears in the person's feed. Following someone already followed changes nothing. They are notified. | “Follow Ana.” |
unfollowAsks first |
Stops following a collector. Unfollowing someone not followed changes nothing. | “Unfollow Ana.” |
What it touches
Each permission reaches a different part of your account. You choose them when you sign in to connect, and you can connect with read alone.
- Read: your shelf, tastings, lists and notifications; the catalog of bottles, producers and vintages; the people you follow and what other collectors have made visible to signed-in users, which is their profiles, tastings, lists and comments. Bottle answers can also carry facts derived from two public review sites, a score summary, counts and a tally of the flavors reviewers mention, with a link to the source page; their review text is never shown.
- Write: your shelf, lists and tastings, and the bottles and corrections you send to the catalog review queue, where they stay hidden from other people until reviewed.
- Social: comments, likes and follows made as you.
What a tool returns goes to your assistant and so to its provider, Anthropic for Claude and OpenAI for ChatGPT, under their terms and privacy policies. Tahona never sees your conversation, only the requests the assistant makes. Tahona keeps a usage ledger of the tool's name, the assistant, the time and the outcome for 90 days, never the arguments or the results, and holds the result of a save for up to a day so a retry cannot post twice. Whatever the assistant creates is saved as yours, tagged with the assistant it came through, visible as the privacy policy describes and subject to the same moderation. Read the privacy policy.
Read-only connections and confirmations
Choose read alone and the assistant can look but not change anything: a tool that writes is refused, and the refusal names the missing permission.
Every change your assistant makes to Tahona is confirmed by you first, after you talk it over: Claude and ChatGPT ask before each tool that saves, posts, follows or deletes runs, because Tahona marks each of those tools as one that changes your data. If you set a tool to Always allow in your assistant, it stops asking. A tasting or comment is visible to other signed-in collectors, so read it before you approve. Tahona tastings have no private setting; the private place is the personal note on a bottle on your shelf.
Revoke
Open https://mcp.tahona.app/connections, sign in and choose Revoke beside the assistant. Its access ends at once and you can connect again later. Removing the connector inside Claude or ChatGPT stops the assistant asking, but only Revoke there ends Tahona's grant.
Alcohol and age
Tahona is informational: it tracks and discusses a collection, sells nothing and links to no retailer. Tahona is rated 18+ and is for adults of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction.
Questions
Does this cost anything?
No. Connecting costs nothing in Tahona. Your assistant's own plan applies, and each connection has a daily limit on tool calls.
Do you store my conversation?
No. Tahona never sees your conversation, only the requests the assistant makes. The usage ledger above is all it keeps of them.
Why does the assistant call a collector's note untrusted?
Text written by other people, and descriptions imported from other sources, comes back marked untrusted, cut short and under a notice telling the assistant to treat it as data, never as instructions. A note that says to ignore its rules cannot steer your assistant, and nothing is saved or deleted without your approval unless you have set that tool to Always allow.
Which assistants work?
Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, Claude Code, and ChatGPT where your plan allows custom connectors. Others are not tested.
